Like any family, we have our issues, but I’ve come to realize that my parents are definitely what I would call good people. Well at times they’re heavily opinionated, they’d also kind, caring, considerate, always willing to open their doors to anyone in need, and they’ve never given up trying to do better.
From my mother I’ve gained much knowledge, especially about the Gospel, not to mention a huge appreciation for everything around me. She was off traveling and exploring far younger than I ever dared! Indeed, I’d say much of my sense of adventure comes from her. Along with my sense of duty, a deep compassion and desire to help others, and the ability to trust.
With my dad came skills, along with the inclination to push harder, to learn more, and to allow myself to grow. Everyone says I’m extremely independent, the black sheep so to speak, but I think a lot of that came from my dad. He and I are very much alike. Quiet, caring, dependable. From him I’ve learned there’s a solution to every problem, even if I don’t know what it is. From him I’ve learn how not to worry about the things I can’t change. And it’s from him that I’ve learned that enduring isn’t about going it alone.
I owe a lot to both my parents. To me, they’re the coolest people in the world.
